Easy Business™

The simulation Easy Business™ was especially developed for the Ministry of Culture in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and through the State Academy it has now been adapted for use in over 400 general and vocational training institutes.

Easy Business simulates a company over a two-year period. At the end of each year, participants draw up an annual statement of accounts, consisting of the P&L account and the balance sheet, whose composition and structure are investigated. They also work out performance and financial indicators which reveal how productivity and profitability increase after the implementation of measures for improvement.

Participants get in touch with the fundamental principles of business management in a playful way. They understand principals practically, better than through theoretical teaching methods.

While setting up the business simulation, the dimensions of an enterprise become clear by the distribution of coins to the different positions of the board representing fixed and current assets. Participants experience the value adding process in a production company with delivery, production and sales of products.

Easy Business defines the relations between the departments of an enterprise and their connections. The Balance Sheet, P&L account and other financial indicators are examined and items that influence them are discussed. The problem of overhead costs in a company becomes clear through  the departments of administration, distribution, research and development.

The simulation demonstrates the effects efficiency measures have for example the reduction of stocks and the automation of production processes. Moreover the expectations of the shareholder of the company are discussed and explained using profitability indicators.

• Pupils attending prelimary-courses at vocational schools
