050627JuniorMM_englThe simulation JuniorManager is a board game wherin 6 companies compete with one another.  Pupils are assigned management roles and their main task is to lead thier own company to success. They observe market developments and the reactions of thier competitors. They make srategic and operative decisions.  The main operational functions are: Marketing and Sales, Procurement of goods, Inventory administration and Production. The fiscal year id divided into 4 quarters. Within this period, the market situation is assessed, raw material ordered, procured and stored in the warehouse, goods delivered and income generated, invesments made and new products are developed.

Entreprenual descions:

  • What products should be produced?
  • Potential markets are defiend
  • What lucrative investments can be made?
  • What are the sources of capital?
  • What staff issues need to be addressed?

At the end of the fiscal year a statement of accounts is prepared comprising of the P&L account and the Balance Sheet. Financial indicators are determined and the results of the business year is analysed. Participants experience the effects of their descisions.

At the end measure are defined to increase the profitability of the company.  These measures are implemented in the following year.  Using the financial statement of accounts of the second fiscal year and the performance indicators, the means to increase the profitability and performance of the company are clearly demonstrated to the participants.

JuniorManager is simulated over 6 fiscal periods. Besides external accounting systems, the simulation deals with the principle components of the income statement. The entire course content can be visualised through active participation.

  • The expectations of the shareholder of the company are discussed and explained using profitability indicators
